该城堡就树立在欧洲最大的私人湖泊的岸边。
宾客们可以驾一叶小舟泛舟美丽的湖面或在湖心垂钓。湖的周围有许多溪流，但从城堡厨房的窗口望去，有的已经干枯。但庞大的湖面依然使我印象深刻。
这个城堡始建于1811年，设计师为约翰·纳什（John Nash），位列诸如白金汉宫、特拉法尔加广场建筑群等著名设计之列。著名的诗人和剧作家威廉姆·布特勒·叶芝在1927年访问此地后说：“保留此城堡，就是保留了美丽”。

这里还专门养着共打猎用的雉鸡。每年在狩猎的季节会释放出750只雉鸡共打猎用，这里共饲养着15,000-20,000只雉鸡。
庄员里的狩猎季节只有16天，可以狩猎雉鸡和野鸭。射得的猎物在商店或餐馆出售。
